Drainage Installation - Getting Your Drainage Right from the Start
A drainage system that's been designed and fitted properly should give you decades of trouble-free use, which is exactly why it's worth taking the time to get it right the first time round. Whether you're building an extension, converting a loft or garage, or replacing a system that's simply worn out, Plumbco designs and installs drainage that's built to last, backed by our 12-month written guarantee and carried out by licensed, fully insured engineers.
We work across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, and every job starts the same way: a proper look at your property, a fixed price agreed before any work begins, and no call-out fee for coming to see you. There are no hidden extras once the work starts, because the price we quote is the price you pay.

What Our Drainage Installation Service Covers
New Build Drainage Systems
If you're building a new home, or a self-contained annexe on an existing plot, the drainage needs designing from scratch rather than adapted from what's already there. We work either from your architect's plans or carry out our own site survey, then design a layout that connects correctly to the public sewer or a private treatment system, taking account of the ground conditions and gradient the site has.
That covers foul drainage from kitchens, bathrooms and toilets, surface water drainage from roofs and driveways, and combined systems where that's the more practical option for the site. We see the project through from the initial design to the point where Building Control signs it off, so it's one less thing for you to manage while the rest of the build is underway.
New Drainage for Extensions and Conversions
Adding an extension, a new bathroom, or a garden room with its own plumbing almost always means your existing drainage needs to change to cope with it. That might involve rerouting a section of pipe, adding a new connection, or fitting an additional soil stack, and it needs to be done before your builder closes everything up, not after. Our engineers survey what's already there, design the changes required, and install everything so it's ready and compliant well ahead of any building inspection.
This is one of the areas we see most often, so whether it's a kitchen extension, a loft conversion with a new en-suite, or a garage that's being turned into a home office with its own facilities, we've likely installed drainage for something similar before.
Full Drainage Replacement
Some drainage systems reach a point where patching them up stops making sense, particularly older clay or cast-iron pipework that's cracked, collapsed, or blocking repeatedly no matter how many times it's cleared. When that happens, a full replacement is usually the more sensible long-term option.
We remove the old system and install a completely new network in modern, durable pipework, laid at the correct depth and gradient and properly connected to the sewer or your private system, all covered by our 12-month written guarantee.
Soakaway Installation
If rainwater from your roof or driveway needs somewhere to go other than the main sewer, a soakaway lets it drain safely away into the surrounding ground instead. We test your soil to check it can cope with the water before we design anything, then install a soakaway suited to the space available and the volume it needs to handle.
This is often required for extensions, new driveways, and larger hard-standing areas, so it's worth checking early rather than after the work's already underway.
Surface Water and Land Drainage
Standing water on a driveway, a garden that never seems to dry out, or damp creeping up an outside wall are usually signs that surface water isn't being managed properly. We install channel drains, French drains, and other linear drainage systems to catch that water and carry it away from your home before it causes lasting damage.
For larger gardens and outdoor spaces, we also fit land drainage to deal with waterlogged ground.
Building Regulations and Compliance
Any new drainage installation, or a significant change to an existing one, needs to comply with Building Regulations Approved Document H, which covers things like pipe depth, gradient and how close drainage can run to a building. We design and install every system with this in mind, and where a formal Building Control submission is needed, we can prepare the documentation and help coordinate the inspection.
If your property isn't connected to the public sewer, we also install and work with septic tanks and private treatment systems, so you're not left without options simply because there's no mains connection nearby.

Why Choose Plumbco?
Drainage Installation FAQs
In most cases, yes. New drainage or a notable change to an existing system, such as adding a bathroom or altering where waste discharges to, falls under Building Regulations Part H. We handle the design work with this in mind and can support you with any Building Control coordination needed.
